Trump’s Presidency May Not Last Long — Here’s Why

With merely four days on the job, President Donald Trump already has the worst job approval ratings for a new president since polls have begun asking that question.

According to Gallup, only 45 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s performance. Going all the way back to former President Dwight Eisenhower in 1953, no president has started out with less than a majority of Americans’ approval.

Before Trump, the lowest start for a new president belonged to former Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, who each started out with job approval ratings of 51 percent in 1981 and 1989, respectively. The highest ratings belonged to former President John F. Kennedy in 1961 when he had a 71 percent approval rating, followed by former President Barack Obama in 2009 and Eisenhower in 1953, who each had a 68 percent job approval rating.

Trump also has the highest disapproval ratings by a great margin.

While he’s not far behind in the job approval rating held by Reagan, who went on to win reelection in a landslide victory in 1984, Trump has a 45 percent disapproval rating, compared to 13 percent for the GOP icon.

Before Trump, the highest disapproval rating for a new president belonged to former President George W. Bush in 2001 with 25 percent — and that came after a highly contested Electoral College result that was eventually decided by the Supreme Court.

Although Trump’s job approval is the lowest for any new president on record, Gallup pointed out that his 45 percent rating is about the same as Obama’s 47.9 percent average throughout his eight-year presidency.

  1. Really? which poll? the same one that said Hillary would be President now? I believe that you are insane. You do the same thing and expect different results. Wake up before you lose what credibility you have left.
