Toby Keith, Three Doors Down Respond To Request To Perform At Trump’s Inauguration

President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural committee reports Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down and Lee Greenwood are some of the performers who will be headlining the inauguration concert on Jan. 19.

It’s a move that has sparked controversy among some fans, The Guardian reports.

“Guys…please don’t do this… I’ve loved your music since I was able to talk, but I can’t support the decision to back this vile piece of garbage via a concert. I’m heartbroken honestly…,” wrote one user on 3 Doors Down’s Instagram page.

Others are happy about the rock band’s decision.

“Love you guys for this appearance,” added another user.

Tom Barrack, the chairman of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, says the concert has been produced and directed by Emmy Award winners and nominees.

“President-elect Trump has made it clear that this inaugural is of, by, and for the American people,” Barrack said of the Lincoln Memorial concert, titled “The Make America Great Again! Welcome Celebration,” CNN Wire reports.

“The 58th Inaugural will celebrate American history and heritage while setting the course to a brighter and bolder future for all Americans,” he continued, The Huffington Post reports. “Above all, it will serve as tribute to one of our greatest attributes, the peaceful transition of partisan power. As Abraham Lincoln said, ‘when an election is over, it is altogether fitting a free people that until the next election they should be one people.’ We will be one people working together, leading together, and making America great again, together.”

Others due to perform or appear include Broadway singer Jennifer Holliday, The Piano Guys, The Frontmen of Country and veteran actor Jon Voight. Military bands will also be performing in honor of the Armed Forces.

On inauguration day, Jan. 20, “America’s Got Talent” singer 16-year-old Jackie Evanch will perform at Trump’s inauguration.

Several high-profile celebrities declined to perform for Trump at his inauguration festivities. Elton John, Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli and Garth Brooks are just a few said they would not participate.

While it appears many big turned down the invitation, Trump denies the claim.

“The so-called ‘A’ list celebrities are all wanting tixs to the inauguration, but look what they did for Hillary, NOTHING,” he tweeted. “I want the PEOPLE!”
