Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson might be best known as a pro wrestler turned A-list actor, but there’s a chance he could be taking on a new role in four years — president.
Johnson, who earned $64 million in 2016 as the world’s highest paid actor, has been the subject of a movement from fans to try and get the charismatic and beloved star to run for the highest office in the nation, says the Independent Journal Review. The call for Johnson’s candidacy came after President-elect Donald Trump won the bid on Nov. 8.
“I wouldn’t rule it out,” Johnson told Vanity Fair. “It would be a great opportunity to help people, so it’s possible. This past election shows that anything can happen.”
Johnson has actually had a history in politics — speaking at the Republican National Convention in 2000 to get young people to vote regardless of their political affiliation. He recently tweeted to acknowledge the movement to get him to run, saying he might consider it “one day.”
“The idea of one day becoming President to create real positive impact and global change is very alluring,” he said.
The move wouldn’t be particularly unprecedented given the rise of Trump, as well as the history of wrestling and movie stars getting into politics. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jesse Ventura both entered the political arena.
In the world of Trump, there has already been a fair share of drama on the transition team — with the appointing of controversial white nationalist Steve Bannon as Chief Strategist as well as several team shakeups. Former House Speaker John Boehner recently commented on the incoming Trump administration, and what he expects from the White House in 2017.
“Donald Trump clearly understands at this point that he’s the president-elect. And he has a very different role to play,” he told CNBC. “He’s still going to be Donald Trump, but I would expect that we’re going to see a somewhat different Donald Trump.”
