After a Nevada woman died, locals were shocked to read that her son and daughter were glad she was dead.
When Marianne Theresa Johnson-Reddick died, her children did not hold back in writing her obituary. They used it as opportunity to expose the pain and suffering she caused them through her abusive ways.
“On behalf of her children, who she abrasively exposed to her evil and violent life, we celebrate her passing from this earth and hope she lives in the after-life reliving each gesture of violence, cruelty, and shame that she delivered on her children,” the obituary reads, reports Little Things.
Johnson-Reddick’s son and daughter, Patrick and Katherine Reddick, decided to be blunt in the obituary to raise awareness of how a parent’s abuse can have a serious impact on the lives of the children.
“Everyone she met, adult or child, was tortured by her cruelty and exposure to violence, criminal activity, vulgarity, and hatred of the gentle or kind human spirit,” the obituary says. “Our greatest wish now is to stimulate a national movement that mandates a purposeful and dedicated war against child abuse in the United States of America.”
According to Patrick and Katherine, their mother regularly beat them and she ran a prostitution ring out of her home in Reno, which caused them to witness traumatic events in their own home.
Eventually, Patrick and Katherine, along with four other siblings, were placed in the foster care system.
Despite the tense relationship between the mother and her children, Patrick made an effort to go see his mother on her deathbed, but the visit ended in Johnson-Reddick becoming so violent toward her son that she had to be sedated, reports Newsiosity.
