Sears Holdings has joined the growing list of retail businesses that are removing Trump-branded products from their stores.
The company, which owns Sears and Kmart, announced Feb. 11 that it would pull more than 30 such products from its website, according to Reuters.
“As part of the company’s initiative to optimize its online product assortment, we constantly refine that assortment to focus on our most profitable items,” company spokesman Brian Hanover said. “Amid that streamlining effort, 31 Trump Home items were among the items removed online this week.”
Hanover added that consumers could still purchase the items, which include furniture, bedding and lighting, through third-party vendors.
Other companies have made similar decisions in recent weeks.
Perhaps most notable among them is Nordstrom, which earlier this month decided to stop selling Ivanka Trump’s line of clothing and accessories, provoking an angry tweet from President Donald Trump.
“My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by [Nordstrom],” he wrote on Feb. 8. “She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!”
Nordstrom’s stock went up 7 percent within two days of that tweet, according to WGHP.
Neiman Marcus, Belk and TJX Companies — which owns TJ Maxx and Marshalls — are also distancing themselves from Ivanka’s fashion label, citing lack of sales.
Despite a sharp decline in online sales, the Ivanka Trump brand maintains that its future is secure.
“We believe that the strength of a brand is measured not only by the profits it generates but the integrity it maintains,” said senior director of marketing Rosemary Young.
A number of major retailers are still selling Ivanka Trump products, including Amazon, Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor, Macy’s and Zappos, according to WGHP.
