ISIS terrorists sliced a 5-year-old Christian boy in half during an attack on the Christian town of Qaraqosh, Iraq, the Anglican Communion News Service reported.
The boy was reportedly the son of one of the founding members of St. George’s Anglican Church in Baghdad, with his only crime being that he was Christian.
“I’m almost in tears because I’ve just had somebody in my room whose little child was cut in half,” Anglican Canon Andrew White of St. George’s Church said, reports Christian Post. “I baptized his child in my church in Baghdad. This little boy, they named him after me — he was called Andrew.”
The boy was killed in an attack that occurred after Kurdish forces left the village and the terrorists arrived.
Tens of thousands of Christians who fled to Qaraqosh seeking shelter from ISIS had to flee yet again after the terrorist forces invaded peshmerga-controlled areas of the country.
The boy’s brother and family later joined other Christians in fleeing to the city of Irbil, where the U.S. consulate is located. U.S. President Barack Obama said Irbil would be protected by U.S. military through targeted airstrikes against ISIS convoys.
White said that thanks to financial contributions from overseas, the Anglican church in Iraq was able to provide basic food and supplies to the targeted religious groups who fled ISIS invasions.
As Shamil Abu Madian — a Christian who fled Mosul when it fell to ISIS in June 2015 — said, many Christians have been forced to repeatedly flee from cities as they fall to ISIS.
“People are living on sidewalks, in public gardens, anywhere,” Abu Madian said.
“The terrorists who have invaded Mosul and other ancient Christian communities in Syria and Iraq have made music videos of themselves murdering civilians and captured soldiers,” a report on Catholic.org stated.
“They are literally enjoying the act of killing and the fear and suffering experienced by others. This sadism may be the purest manifestation of evil witnessed since the Rape of Nanking during WWII.”
