Variety Magazine has featured 37-year-old former first daughter Chelsea Clinton on the cover of their April edition, titled “Power of Women NY.” Twitter users hate it.

“How cool does Chelsea Clinton look on our Power of Women, NY, cover?” Variety’s editor Claudia Eller tweeted along with a photo of Clinton on April 17. “Read her great interview … tomorrow’s issue!”

Nearly everyone who responded to the tweet had a negative impression of the magazine cover.

Chelsea Clinton

“The media is trying very, very, very hard to make Chelsea Clinton a celebrity despite the fact nobody anywhere wants her to be one,” one person tweeted.

Another said that the media is “positioning the younger Clinton for her political run,” while somebody else joked, “I love it when my parents get me a PR campaign.”

“Like some snotty rich kid who nearly the whole school hates, trying to look cool in a brand-new leather jacket,” responded another. “THAT’S ‘how cool’.”

Some people took some jabs at her appearance, saying that she looked like a horse or otherwise calling her unattractive, while others joked about beating her up.

“STOP TRYING TO MAKE HER HAPPEN,” one person wrote, echoing the sentiments of many others who posted similar comments.

Others took issue with the fact that the magazine had thrust her into the spotlight and depicted her as a champion for women.

“Stop pushing Clinton manufactured consent on us,” wrote one such person. “There are other women who have done more.”

Another Twitter user asked, “So, to be considered cover-worthy for an issue talking about power for women, all you have to do is be born to the right people?”

There were no positive reactions to be found.

“I’m just looking for ONE positive Tweet about this,” noted one person. “Just one. Wow. Not ONE!”

Despite speculation that she is being groomed to run for office, Clinton told Variety in March that she had no intentions of doing so.

“I clearly do not support the president and certainly hope that he is defeated in the next election, but I don’t think I’m the best person for that job,” she told the magazine at the time. “If someone steps down or something changes, I’ll then ask and answer those questions at that time. But right now, no, I’m not running for public office.”

She added that she has been asked whether or not she’s running for office “a lot” over the years but that “the answer has never changed.”

  1. The Clintons are pathetic…
Nobody wants them in politics anymore… Her parents have no honor… What’s left but a pathetic attempt to maintain some semblance of relevance… Pass around a lot of $$ (that should have gone to rebuilding Haiti), to promote the next generation of Clintons… Sad, very sad…
