After losing the presidential election to Republican nominee Donald Trump, it was reported that Bill and Hillary Clinton may be getting a divorce. Now, those rumors have been addressed.
The rumor that Bill and Hillary Clinton would be getting divorced originated from an article on the Christian Times Newspaper site. The story was shared throughout social media, with many believing that the rumor was true.
The original story read in part, “At approximately 9:18 a.m. on Thursday, attorneys for Hillary Rodham Clinton filed an Aciton for Divorce with the Supreme Court of the State of New York for Westchester County, according to documents obtained by the Christian Times Newspaper.”
According to the Inquisitr, Snopes has confirmed that the story is completely false. Hillary and Bill Clinton will remain married.
The site reportedly appears legitimate because there is a real news site called “Christian Times,” which is separate from “Christian Times Newspaper,” which regularly shares false news stories. The “Christian Times Newspaper” has a disclaimer on their site that states that everything on their site may not be true, but that they “do their best,” according to the Inquisitr.
“The story has no truth to it,” Snopes writer Dan Evon says.
The site has previously published other false stories, such as one claiming that Bill Clinton was under investigation for his involvement in a child sex ring.
