Autopsy results show that a New Mexico girl who was raped, killed and dismembered by her mother’s boyfriend the day after her 10th birthday suffered sexual abuse for months prior to her death.
On Aug. 23, Victoria Martens was raped and murdered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on the day after her 10th birthday.
According to the Daily Mail, Victoria’s mother, Michelle Martens, 35, admitted to enjoying watching her daughter being raped by her boyfriend, 32-year-old Fabian Gonzales. The mother said she watched Gonzales and his cousin, 32-year-old Jessica Kelley, as they killed her daughter.
Martens also admitted she had sex with Gonzales 20 minutes after her daughter was killed.
Forensic reports shows that Victoria was raped, strangled, stabbed and dismembered. Her body was found in a burning blanket in the bathtub of her mother’s Albuquerque home on the morning of August 24.
According to the Albuquerque Journal, an autopsy report has revealed that the cause of Victoria’s death was strangulation and that she was sexually abused prior to her rape and murder.
The report showed that Victoria had human papillomavirus, or HPV, which forensic pathologists cite as proof that she had been sexually abused before.
Martens initially told police that her daughter had died from consuming methamphetamine, which she said she had given to Victoria to relax her. However, the reports showed no traces of methamphetamine in her system. Instead, alcohol was found in her system.
Michelle Martens reportedly told investigators that she had previously gone online to offer her daughter to pedophiles who wanted to rape her.
Martens, Gonzales and Kelley have been charged with murder and rape in connection with Victoria’s death.
