Two weeks after his inauguration, President Donald Trump left the White House to meet up with First Lady Melania Trump in Palm Beach, Florida, for a Red Cross event at his luxury resort, the Mar-a-Lago (photos below).

When he stepped off the plane on Feb. 3, Trump had a simple message for the crowd awaiting his arrival.

The first lady has been living in the couple’s home at Trump Tower in New York while their 10-year-old son, Barron, completes the school year. Amid rumors that she would remain in New York throughout her husband’s presidency, Mrs. Trump’s acting senior adviser confirmed on Feb. 1 that she would move the capital within the next several months, notes CNN.

“Mrs. Trump will be moving to D.C. and settling in to the White House at the end of the school year, splitting her time between New York and D.C. in the meantime,” said Mrs. Trump’s adviser, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, according to CNN. “Mrs. Trump is honored to serve this country and is taking the role and responsibilities of first lady very seriously. It has only been a short time since the inauguration and the first lady is going to go about her role in a pragmatic and thoughtful way that is unique and authentic to her.”

The Trumps will join U.S. ambassadors, foreign royal families and some 700 guests at the Red Cross ball, reports the Palm Beach Daily News.

Thousands of protesters are expected to show up outside the resort in opposition to the president’s executive order restricting immigration and travel, primarily for those from seven Muslim-majority nations.
