Vasquez had reportedly been suffering from migraines and hypertension, and initial reactions from medical professionals suggested Vasquez died from natural causes. A toxicology report is still pending, but sources told TMZ Vasquez had no history of substance abuse.

“Vaneza, my sweet, sweet beautiful baby — your passing has left me destroyed forever but I know you are at peace in Paradise. I love you, my alpha child,” wrote Vazquez’s mother, Lisa Centeno, on Facebook.

Dawson and her family have not released a statement regarding Vasquez’s death. Vasquez was reportedly working for Dawson at the time of her death.

Dawson, 38, has been a working actress for much of her life, starring in the cult-classic movie “Kids” in 1995, which helped her land larger roles in adulthood, according to IMDb. Born and raised in New York, Dawson struggled with poverty and family illness during her childhood, and several family members dealt with HIV.

Dawson has also been involved with several productions showcasing her singing talent, most notably an appearance in the musical “Rent.” She has also worked with music artist Prince, appeared in a music video for the band The Chemical Brothers, and was featured on a track by hip-hop duo Outkast.

More recently, Dawson has made a career of appearing in TV shows. She is currently filming episodes of “The Defenders,” as well as working in “Iron Fist.” She was also a regular in Netflix-produced superhero series “Luke Cage.”

Dawson has also been involved with many social issues, supporting causes like Oxfam, Amnesty International, and Doctors Without Borders. She was also a vehement supporter of Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders in his race for the nomination in the 2016 presidential election.

“We’ve had this insane level of political correctness that has been glossing over the fact that things aren’t politically correct, that things are really devastating for a lot of people — black, white, brown, male, female, different religions, all of it,” Dawson in a 2016 interview with Democracy Now!.

Dawson also voiced her fears about then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, saying many voters may have supported him because he seemed like the anti-politically correct candidate.
