A 6-year-old from New Jersey surprised everybody when he caught a fish almost as big as he is (video below).
Sam Adams, 6, was not disappointed when he came in second place in a fishing competition because he made quite an achievement regardless.
The first-grader, who began fishing at an early age thanks to his grandfather, caught a surprising 41-pound, 7 ounce striped bass, according to AWM.
Sam battled the massive fish for about 10 minutes before making the catch and surprising everybody around him, including his grandfather.
“I’m tiring him out!” Sam excitedly tells his grandfather, Scott Adams, while battling the striped bass.
“You’re tiring him out, but don’t get cocky!” His grandfather responds.
The fight continues as Scott proudly watches his grandson.
“Keep that rod tip up little man,” he says. “Woah! Keep that rod tip up and hold on, boy! You got a big one.”
At one point in the video, Sam gets knocked down to his knees by the powerful fish, according to Newsiosity. He gets right back up, however, and keeps fighting.
In the final several minutes of the video, several others gather around little Sam and cheer him on as he keeps battling the gigantic bass.
Around the 8:20-mark, Sam shouts, “You can see the fish!”
Scott Adams, who shot the video of his grandson, says it was “literally the 1st time he ever took a cell phone video,” when asked why the video never actually showed the fish caught by Sam.
A report by JinglesBaitandTackle.com confirms that the fish Sam caught weighed in at over 41 pounds, according to AWM.
